JJ Redick: 'I Really Don't Give a F--k' About Dispelling Misconceptions as Lakers HC
JJ Redick is more interested in winning than proving anyone wrong.
"I really don't give a f--k," he told reporters during his introductory press conference on Monday when discussing the opportunity to prove misconceptions about his coaching ability wrong.
Instead, he just wants to be a successful coach and lead the Los Angeles Lakers to plenty of wins:
There are certainly question marks about Redick, as he has no head coaching or assistant coaching experience and was just in the league as a player as recently as the 2020-21 campaign. However, he has 15 seasons as a player under his belt and remained around the game as a broadcaster and podcaster.
The standard is certainly high for the Lakers, as no head coach has lasted more than three seasons since Phil Jackson retired in 2011.
Not even winning a championship in 2020 was enough to prevent Frank Vogel from being fired in 2022.
Redick will be expected to win and fast with LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the way, but winning is exactly what he's focused on despite the question marks surrounding him.
