49ers' George Kittle Praises Brock Purdy's Offseason Work: 'He Looks Like the Guy'
George Kittle is feeling confident about about the future of the San Francisco 49ers with Brock Purdy as the starting quarterback.
Kittle spoke about Purdy's work ethic and growth during the offseason and expressed that he believes that Purdy is "the guy" for the 49ers.
"He looks like the guy, which is really nice," 49ers tight end George Kittle told Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area. "He's in the building every day. He's the same guy every single day. He's consistent. He's incredibly competitive. It's fun seeing him yell at guys when they don't hit the route depth, if they have the wrong landmark. He's taking control of the offense and making it his."

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
Purdy's story has been fascinating. He was the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and was deep in the 49ers quarterback depth chart when his rookie year started. After injuries to Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo, Purdy took over and led the team to the NFC Championship.
His play led to the team committing to him as the starter and that decision worked out in 2023. Purdy led the team to a 12-5 record and San Francisco would advance to the Super Bowl, eventually losing 25-22 in overtime to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Purdy threw for 4,280 yards and 31 touchdowns in 2023 and Kittle benefitted from Purdy's play as well. He had 65 catches for 1,020 yards and six touchdowns. This was his first 1,000 yard season since 2019 and he would be named a first-team All-Pro for these feats.
San Francisco remains a threat in the NFC in 2024 and the duo is a major reason why. Kittle's praise shows that Purdy could show even more improvement in year three and maybe could help the 49ers win a Super Bowl for the first time since 1995.
