Protestors Disrupt 2024 Travelers Championship, Storm the Green on 18th Hole on Video

Chaos broke out on the 18th green of TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut, in Sunday's final round.

With the final group of Scottie Scheffler, Tom Kim and Akshay Bhatia on the green, multiple protestors ran on the green with something that produced colorful substances. Police quickly responded to the situation, and the players finished the hole despite the colored substance on the green.

What made the entire situation all the more incredible was how high the stakes were at the moment the protestors stormed the green.

Scheffler and Kim both had birdie opportunities with the former holding a narrow one-stroke lead on what would have been the final hole of the tournament. Scheffler was also further away from the hole than his counterpart and was lining up his putt when the entire incident unfolded.

Following a brief delay, Scheffler ended up missing his lengthy putt before Kim nailed his to force a playoff.

The CBS broadcast explained that officials had to change the hole location on the 18th hole for the playoff in an effort to minimize the effect of the colored substances and cleaning efforts on the green.

The aftermath of the situation also provided more insight into what those who stormed the green were protesting since they were wearing shirts that said "No Golf On A Dead Planet," which was presumably a message about climate change.

As for the golf, creating the playoff was a major opportunity for Kim.

The Travelers Championship is one of the PGA Tour's signature events with loaded fields and additional prize money and would represent the biggest win of the 22-year-old's career. His three PGA Tour wins came at the 2022 Wyndham Championship and the 2022 and 2023 Shriners Children's Open.

Yet the world's top-ranked golfer in Scheffler was standing in his way.

Scheffler did what he seemingly always does and delivered in the biggest moment with a par to win the playoff and tournament. It was his sixth win of what is shaping up to be an incredible year after he also topped the field at the Masters, The Players Championship, the Memorial Tournament, the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the RBC Heritage.
