Conor McGregor Says 'I Will Never Lose Another Fight' and Won't Fight Injured Again

Joseph ZuckerJun 22, 2024

You can't lose a fight if you don't fight in the first place.

UFC star Conor McGregor made two proclamations on Saturday. He said he doesn't intend to suffer another defeat in the cage and "will never enter a fight hurt again."

The former featherweight and lightweight titleholder confirmed Friday he suffered a broken toe in training, which forced him to withdraw from his UFC 303 fight with Michael Chandler.

"I couldn't justify to my team, or fans, that I make the walk hindered again," he said. "That walk has been seen. This next walk has got to be, and it will be, 100% Conor McGregor. The fans deserve it and we are getting close."

UFC 303 was supposed to be McGregor's big comeback in more ways than one.

The 35-year-old hasn't fought since July 2021, when a broken leg forced him into a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier. Beyond getting back inside the Octagon, the matchup with Chandler was also supposed to reaffirm his status as a contender in the lightweight division. Three of his last four fights were losses.

Now, it's unclear when the stars will align for McGregor again and whether he'll look to line up a new date with Chandler or pivot to a different opponent altogether.
