Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The two will potentially face off twice this season: on Thursday, Sept. 26 in East Rutherford and Thursday, Nov. 28—a Thanksgiving game—in Dallas.
Diggs, 25, appeared in just two games last season after a torn ACL cut his season short. But he appears to be well on track to return for training camp.
"It looks good, it looks good," Cowboys assistant head coach and defensive backs coach Al Harris told reporters in May regarding Diggs' recovery. "Actually, that's just where I was at, me just watching him. [Director of rehab] Britt [Brown] is doing a great job with him. As far as timeline-wise, I'll leave that up to Britt and the strength staff to tell you guys that. For what we did today, I thought he did a good job."
His return will give the Cowboys an opportunistic pair of cornerbacks after DaRon Bland led the NFL with nine interceptions last season and set an NFL record with five pick-sixes.
"A lot of people are not expecting what Tre is gonna come back with," Bland told reporters in early May. "I know what Tre is gonna come back with. It's going to be something dangerous. I can't wait."
Nabers, 20, is clearly ready to find out. The rookie wideout, the No. 6 overall pick at this year's NFL draft, comes into his first season with major expectations. He's already making a strong impression.
"I think he can be a tremendous weapon for us. He's had a good spring. He's looked good and made a lot of plays. You know, it takes time and work, and we'll put that in," quarterback Daniel Jones told reporters this week. "I mean, he can do everything. There is not much that he can't do, really, from a route-running standpoint. He is dynamic with the ball in his hands and strong, fast, explosive, catches the ball well."
He has the potential to be a nightmare for opposing defensive backs if he reaches his ceiling. Diggs, however, isn't shook.
Let the games begin.
