Star RB Wes Brown Commits to Maryland Over Miami: Canes Losing at the UA Game
The Miami Hurricanes have a great recruiting class right now, but in recruiting, you never settle for what you have. You could always do better and could always land better players and add depth to needed positions.
With the Under Amour All-American Game currently taking place, many prospects that haven't made a commitment yet are doing so on national television.
The game has just started and there have only been a few commitments, but the Hurricanes aren't doing so well early on.
Safety Lucas Thompson, who is one of the top safeties in this year's class, has decided to become an East Carolina Pirate. The Miami Hurricanes were one of the schools interested in him, as well as South Carolina and Wisconsin, among others.
Another player the Hurricanes would have liked to have was running back Wes Brown. He's a tough running back at 6'0", 200 pounds and is considered a top-10 back by Scout.com and a top-20 back by Rivals.com.
Instead of going with the Hurricanes, Brown decided to become a Maryland Terrapin.
Although the Hurricanes have a great running back prospect in Duke Johnson, you could never have enough talented runners in the back field. The Hurricanes are also very thin at the safety position and could have used Thompson as well.
Miami has a top recruiting class where it sits right now, but landing a few more recruits couldn't hurt as they try to return to the glory days under head coach Al Golden.
