Fantasy Alert: Justin Herbert 'Looking Forward' to Getting Ladd McConkey the Ball
Fantasy football managers hoping to secure a late-round gem in drafts this summer would be wise to give Los Angeles Chargers rookie Ladd McConkey a look.
Per Jeff Miller of the L.A. Times, McConkey appears to be next in line as the new favorite target for Chargers star quarterback Justin Herbert.
"It's like he's been a four- or five-year vet," Herbert said of McConkey at the end of minicamp this week. "He understands the game. He understands leverage. He's a smart player, and he's very athletic. I'm really looking forward to getting him the ball."
The Chargers offense will look different around Herbert in 2024 following the departures of veteran receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. Los Angeles used a second-round pick to select McConkey and selected Brenden Rice and Cornelius Johnson in the seventh round.
Miller noted that McConkey "displayed the most potential throughout the offseason program" and "his precise route running and sudden quickness in tight spaces" are the qualities that have set him apart so far.
It sounds like the Georgia product has the chance to quickly work his way up the depth chart this summer and establish himself as one of the top options for Herbert, so he should be on the radar of fantasy football managers looking for a source of production in later rounds.
