Alex Sarr Compares His Game to Giannis, Anthony Davis, Jaren Jackson Jr., Evan Mobley

Andrew PetersJun 14, 2024

Potential lottery pick Alex Sarr boasts the height and skillset of a modern NBA big man, and the 19-year-old compared himself to a handful of stars ahead of this month's draft.

Per The Ringer's Kevin O'Connor, Sarr listed Anthony Davis, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Evan Mobley as players he compares himself to. If Sarr excels in the league as well as any of those players, he should do just fine in the NBA.

Both Davis and Antetokounmpo have turned into some of the most elite finishers at the rim and each has an NBA title under their belt. Jackson is an NBA Defensive Player of the Year winner, and Mobley seems capable of winning the award within the next few years.

It would be tough for Sarr to be at those players' level in his rookie year, but he could be a star with the right development.

The Frenchman who spent the last season playing for the Perth Wildcats of Australia's NBL stands at 7'0", and 224 pounds with a 7'4" wingspan. Like several players he compared himself to, Sarr has the strong perimeter skill set needed to thrive as a big man in today's NBA landscape.

Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman projects Sarr to go to the Washington Wizards with the No. 2 overall pick, just behind Zaccharie Risacher at No. 1. Wasserman noted that the Wizards are in need of a point guard, but passing up on Sarr could be hard to justify if he's still available at No. 2.
