Photo: Typo Found on Chiefs' Super Bowl 58 Ring After Ceremony with Mahomes, Kelce

After quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce and the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs players, coaches and staff members were awarded their Super Bowl LVIII rings Thursday night, a mistake was discovered.

As seen in the following photo of the inside of the ring, the Miami Dolphins were listed as being the AFC's No. 7 seed in the 2023-24 NFL playoffs. However, they were the No. 6 seed:

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio confirmed that at least one of the actual rings handed out Thursday included the typo, which likely means it was engraved on every ring.

After going through some uncharacteristic struggles during the 2023 regular season and finishing with an 11-6 record, the Chiefs were the No. 3 seed in the AFC, meaning they would have a much tougher playoff road than usual.

It started in the Wild Card Round with a home game against the sixth-seeded Dolphins, who led the AFC East for most of the season but lost to the Buffalo Bills in Week 18, forcing them to settle for a wild-card berth.

Playing in the fourth-coldest game in NFL history, the Chiefs took the fight to the Dolphins, beating them 26-7.

Mahomes had never had to play a true road playoff game during his NFL career before last season, but that changed after the win over Miami, as he and the Chiefs went on the road to beat the second-seeded Bills in the AFC Divisional Round.

Then, in the AFC Championship Game, Kansas City secured another road win over the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens.

The Chiefs secured their second consecutive Super Bowl win against another No. 1 seed in the San Francisco 49ers, coming from behind to beat them 25-22 in overtime.

Kansas City has now won three Super Bowls in the past five seasons, so while designing Super Bowl rings should be old hat for the organization, it didn't prevent a mistake from being made.
