Warriors' Stephen Curry, Father Dell to Host 'Heat Check' Podcast on NBA, More Topics

Scott PolacekJun 11, 2024

Add Stephen Curry to the list of athletes with a podcast.

ESPN's Marc J. Spears reported Tuesday that the Golden State Warriors star will co-host the podcast Heat Check with his father and former NBA player, Dell Curry. The podcast will debut Thursday and "pull back the curtain on their family's journey, told through the lens of a father and son, while talking about the biggest names throughout NBA history."

Roderick Boone of the Charlotte Observer noted both of their journeys to the NBA, Steph's draft-day thoughts that the New York Knicks were going to be the team to select him and his connections with LeBron James will all be among the topics discussed.

"Really excited for this project with Steph," Dell Curry said, per Boone. "We had a blast reminiscing how we got to where we are."

The connection between Curry and James serving as one of the topics on the debut episode is fitting, as LeBron also co-hosts a podcast with JJ Redick titled Mind the Game.

Mind the Game attempts to move away from the hot-take culture of sports media and truly break down the game of basketball, and all indications are Heat Check will likely stay away from any debate-style format and instead provide a fresh look at the NBA from the eyes of one of the all-time greats and his father who also has plenty of playing experience.

Dell Curry played in the NBA from the 1986-87 season through the 2001-02 campaign for the Utah Jazz, Cleveland Cavaliers, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors.

Steph, of course, is a future Hall of Famer who has spent his entire career with the Warriors and built a resume that includes four championships, two league MVPs, two scoring titles, 10 All-NBA selections, 10 All-Star Game nods and a spot on the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team.
