Michael Jordan's Air Jordan 1 Bulls Sneakers from Broken Foot Game to Sell at Auction

Tyler ConwayJun 11, 2024

If you want to own memorabilia from one of the worst days of Michael Jordan's career, you're in luck.

The Jordan 1 shoes worn by Jordan when he broke his foot in 1985 are back up for sale in a Lelands auction. The shoes, which were likely the last Jordan 1s worn by His Airness on the court, have a starting bid of $100,000 and will be available until June 30.

It's a bit of a surprise that these shoes are back on the market, given they were sold just two years ago for $422,000. A two-year holding period is rare for a collector's item of this magnitude, so it would seem whoever bought the shoes in 2022 is willing to let them go at a relative value.

Lelands estimates the shoes will go for between $400,000-$500,000, which would—at best—represent a break-even for the seller given inflation. It's more likely than not the person will wind up taking a slight loss as the memorabilia game slows down a little from its pandemic-era heights.

Jordan played in only 18 games during the 1985-86 season, returning late in the campaign to lead the Bulls into the playoffs. He famously scored his playoff career-high 63 points in Game 2 of Chicago's first-round loss to the Boston Celtics, a number that remains the record for points in a playoff game.
