Suns' Kevin Durant Responds to Fan's Take on His NBA Legacy: 'Go Get Ready for Work'

Joseph ZuckerJun 11, 2024

Kevin Durant's scoring abilities remain only equaled by his posting abilities.

The Phoenix Suns star responded to a fan on X who suggested returning to the Oklahoma City Thunder and winning a title is the only way the future Hall of Famer "can redeem his legacy."

Durant suggested the fan has other things to worry about right now:

Whether he's directly challenging fans and members of the media or simply offering some random musings, Durant has set himself apart on social media.

His unfiltered opinions offer a welcome contrast to most star athletes, who have been carefully coached to avoid saying anything too interesting.

To the point the fan raised, Durant's curt response probably illustrates his disdain for yet again talking about how his achievements will be remembered and framed.

First, it was the Thunder's inability to get over the top and how Durant needed to win a championship to keep pace with LeBron James. Then winning a pair of titles with the Golden State Warriors wasn't enough because he joined a loaded roster.

Now, the conversation has shifted to how he has seemingly failed to find the satisfaction he sought by first orchestrating a superteam with Kyrie Irving and James Harden on the Brooklyn Nets and then charting his own path to the Suns.

It's little surprise the two-time NBA Finals MVP bristled at another discussion of his legacy on the hardwood because he has been fighting this battle for at least a decade.
