US Open Golf 2024: Odds, Favorites and Tournament Preview
It's Scottie Scheffler's world and everyone is just living in it.
That's what it feels like going into the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst.
Scheffler enters North Carolina off a win at The Memorial and with his sights set on a second major title in 2024.
Scheffler has been difficult to beat at his best this season, something that is reflected in the pre-tournament betting odds.
The No. 1 men's golfer in the world is +300 (bet $100 to win $300) to win the third major of the season.
A major tournament betting favorite typically sits somewhere around +800-+1200, but Scheffler is not playing like your typical betting favorite right now.

Scheffler comes into Pinehurst with 11 straight top-10 finishes.
Scheffler's fifth win in that stretch came on Sunday at The Memorial.
The five victories have come at events with some of the toughest fields on the PGA Tour. He captured the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Players Championship before his Masters win. He won the RBC Heritage the week after Augusta.
Scheffler has a single round over 72 at the two majors this season. Even a third-round 73 at the PGA Championship did not stop him from landing in the top 10.
At minimum, Scheffler will be in contention at Pinehurst.
Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele are listed as the second and third betting favorites. Schauffele seems like a bigger threat to Scheffler at the start of the week because of his first major triumph at the PGA Championship.
The US Open is Schauffele's best major on the calendar. He has never finished outside the top 15 in his seven US Open starts.
McIlroy strung together five straight top 10s at the US Open, but he has not placed inside the top 10 at a major yet this season.
Collin Morikawa, the fourth betting favorite, is more of a lock to contend than McIlroy right now. He was in contention on Sunday at both the Masters and PGA Championship and finished in the top five at both events.
Other major champions, like Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm, could be in the mix come Sunday, but Scheffler, Schauffele and Morikawa are the three most trustworthy golfers to bet on going into the tournament.
Tournament Preview

The US Open is typically known for tough course layouts and scores around even-par.
That was the case for a majority of the field at Pinehurst in 2014. Martin Kaymer won with a nine-under score, but no one else in the field was above one-under. Michael Campbell won in 2005 by shooting even par for the tournament.
The scores have gotten lower over the past five US Opens. Wyndham Clark won at 10-under last year. The last five champions have been at least six-under.
A score in the six-under range may be enough to become a major champion on Sunday.
Of course, Scheffler is the gold standard at the moment, but the recent trend of US Open winners does not support him winning.
Clark, Matt Fitzpatrick, Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau and Gary Woodland were all first-time major winners at the US Open over the last five years.
Brooks Koepka in 2018 was the last golfer with a major title to win the US Open. He won his first major title the year before at the US Open.
Viktor Hovland, Ludvig Aberg and Tommy Fleetwood have the lowest odds among the group of players without a major win.
However, that trend could be put to rest since seven of the 10 golfers with the lowest odds to win at Pinehurst are major winners.
