4-Star CB Chuck McDonald Commits to Alabama over Georgia, Oregon, USC
The Alabama Crimson Tide continue to add dynamic players to its 2025 recruiting class.
Four-star cornerback Chuck McDonald from Santa Ana, California, officially committed to the Crimson Tide Saturday, becoming the 12th player to join the 2025 class.
McDonald had 27 offers and had visited Alabama June 3. He chose the Crimson Tide over other programs like Arizona, Arkansas, Auburn and Colorado.
He said that Alabama made him feel prioritized and that helped him make his decision.
"I feel like a top priority for Bama right now and I have a good relationship with the coaching staff," McDonald said, per Blair Angulo of 247 Sports. "Coach (Maurice) Linguist and coach (Kane) Wommack recently came out to visit at our school and we had a great talk.
He continued by saying that he was interested in the program prior to Nick Saban's retirement and he has appreciated the transition to the new coaching staff headed by Kalen DeBoer.
"I felt like a priority to Alabama even dating back to when coach Nick Saban offered me," McDonald said, per Angulo. "I really like the new staff and their vision for me in the program. I love the history and tradition and am excited."
He is rated as the No. 76 overall player, the No. 9 cornerback and the seventh-best player from California, per 247 Sports composite rating. He competes at Mater Dei High School and has recorded 63 total tackles and one interception in 27 games.
He joins an Alabama class that now has eight four-star prospects and ranks as the fourth-strongest class in the nation, per 247 Sports. Finding success on the recruiting trail will be vital for the Crimson Tide as it prepares for life without Saban.
