Packers' Josh Jacobs Apologizes, Says He Was 'Misinformed' On Wearing Green in Brazil

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs apologized in an Instagram story after previously stating that NFL players couldn't wear green in Brazil in advance of the Packers' game in São Paulo against the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, Sept. 9.

"Damn I was misinformed," Jacobs wrote. "Sorry Brazil see you soon!"

Jacobs made his initial remarks on the Green Light with Chris Long podcast.

"You know, they said that the part of Brazil we're going to, you can't even wear green at," Jacobs said. "They said, I guess, something to do with the gangs and stuff."

He added: "They said, we're not going to Rio. They was like, 'Man, it's one of them places where they probably won't even let us leave the hotels.'"

And then he continued: "They was like, 'Man, look, just pack black and white colors. When you come out here, we don't want no mishaps.'"

That apparently isn't the case. Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk explained the misinformation's origin.

"The misinformation apparently stemmed from the game's venue, Arena Corinthians in São Paulo, where the home soccer team Corinthians tells its players not to wear the color green because it's worn by rival Palmeiras. But it doesn't apply to American football teams playing in the stadium, and there will be plenty of green on the field and in the stands for the Packers-Eagles game on September 6."

This game marks the first time the NFL will host a matchup in South America. It marks one of five international games this year, alongside three matchups in London in October and one in November in Munich.
