Video: Golf Fan Caddies for C.T. Pan at Canadian Open After Injury to Mike Cowan

Paul Emerson arrived at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club to watch the fourth and final round of the RBC Canadian Open as a fan on Sunday.

He ended up experiencing it as a caddie.

After C.T. Pan's caddie, Mike "Fluff" Cowan, fell and suffered an injury during the third hole, Emerson ended up filling in as a temporary caddie until others were available.

Adam Stanley of Sportsnet reported that Cowan is expected to be alright and noted Emerson watched Pan and playing partner Shane Lowry during the third hole and offered his help following the fall.

"We didn't see him wipe out, but we heard him wipe out. We saw him on the ground. He was getting up very, very slowly," Emerson said, via Stanley. "We just watched it all happen and then Lowry's caddie picked up his own bag, and he picked up Pan's bag and started walking up the hole.

"As he was walking Fluff off the hole, over to the medic, I just said, 'Do you need a hand?' and he said, 'Yes please.'"

Stanley noted Mike Campbell, who works in caddie services at Hamilton Golf and Country Club, took over as the caddie during the fifth hole. He filled in until the 10th tee when Al Riddell, who lives in the area and is a caddie for Paul Barjon, arrived and took over as caddie for Pan.

Pan and Riddell previously knew each other.

Still, it was quite the memorable day for Emerson.

"Heart was pumping a little bit. I'm a golf nut," Emerson said. "Walked up and was shaking hands with Lowry and his caddie, just like, 'Hey how are you?' And that hole went pretty quickly. Got up on the next tee and we had a little time to wait (but) had my phone going off.

"I joked around about how I was hoping to have a nice view on the fourth hole."

To Pan's credit, he worked through the caddie changes in impressive fashion with a one-under 69 for the round. It brought his tournament total to three-under.
