Chiefs' Travis Kelce Wanted to Be Cowboys Player Growing Up, Talks Boos at Mavs Game

Timothy RappMay 29, 2024

Travis Kelce didn't exactly receive the warmest welcome from Dallas Mavericks fans when he was shown on the Jumbotron during Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals, being met with resounding boos while his teammate, Patrick Mahomes, was greeted with cheers.

And that may have made Kelce feel a certain way, at least a little.

"I got booed twice. It's whatever," Kelce said, sarcastically feigning indifference (1:03:40 mark). "I get it. I get I'm not from Dallas, just kinda like an innocent bystander. I don't know. Maybe they don't... I don't know. Maybe they just don't like the Chiefs, I don't know."

"I grew up a huge Jason Witten appreciator," he added. "The Cowboys were always the f--king boys when they had Deion Sanders, and Emmitt Smith. Dude, I used to want to be [on the Cowboys], man."

His brother, a Philadelphia Eagles legend, seemed shocked at the idea his brother would have ever wanted to play for the Cowboys and attempted to call shenanigans on Kelce's admission. But there may have been some bad blood mixed into that response.

In any event, the Kansas City Chiefs' superstar has now won three Super Bowl titles in his 11-year career. The Cowboys haven't won a ring since the 1995 season. Point to Kelce.
