Jimmy Butler, Messi Star in Funny 'Bad Boys' Trailer with Will Smith, Martin Lawrence

With a new Bad Boys movie making its way into theaters this summer, two of the biggest sports stars in Miami joined Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in a new trailer to promote the film.

The trailer starts by playing off Jimmy Butler's uncertain future with the Miami Heat when he shows up at the house where Smith and Lawrence are watching television.

All four Bad Boys movies, including the upcoming Bad Boys: Ride or Die, are set in Miami with Smith and Lawrence playing cops for the Miami Police Department.

Butler declares he wants to be a Bad Boy, leading to Smith and Lawrence putting him through training exercises to see if he has what it takes.

Lionel Messi makes a cameo appearance at the end when he also wants to join the team, but Smith and Lawrence amusingly tell him he is at the wrong house.

There's also an extra minute at the end of the trailer featuring a gag reel and outtakes involving Smith, Lawrence and Butler.

Butler's future with the Heat is uncertain after he missed 27 games this season, including all five games against the Boston Celtics in the first round of the playoffs. The 34-year-old is seeking a contract extension that would pay him two years and $113 million this offseason, per Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald.

Heat president Pat Riley didn't commit to re-signing Butler, who is owed $48.8 million next season and has a $52.4 million player option for 2025-26, during his end-of-season press conference on May 6.

Messi has called south Florida his home since signing with Inter Miami in July 2023. He has scored 11 goals in 16 games with the Herons.

Previous movies in the franchise have featured cameos from Miami athletes, including John Salley and Dan Marino. It's unclear right now if Butler and/or Messi will pop up in Bad Boys: Ride or Die, but fans can find out when the movie is released on June 7.
