Jaylen Brown: Michael Jordan Remark Was About T.J. McConnell After Celtics-Pacers G3

Joseph ZuckerMay 28, 2024

Indiana Pacers guard T.J. McConnell was a player Jaylen Brown referred to when the Boston Celtics star said "some of those guys turned into f--king Michael Jordan or whatever" earlier in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Brown confirmed as much in his postgame press conference following Boston's 105-102 victory in Game 4 to complete a sweep.

The series MVP's remarks Monday came as part of a response to a question about his hard foul on McConnell in the fourth quarter.

Brown said he was going for the ball and didn't intend to hit McConnell in the face. He said he's "got nothing but respect for T.J. McConnell," whom he occasionally talks with throughout the season.

Many fans assumed McConnell or teammate Andrew Nembhard was who Brown had in mind when he made the MJ comparison. Both McConnell (23 points and nine rebounds) and Nembhard (32 points and nine assists) nearly had a double-double in Indiana's 114-111 loss. They stepped up in a big way with Tyrese Haliburton out because of a hamstring injury.

The duo was unable to keep the Pacers' postseason run alive, though.

For Brown, he'll hope this was the last time he witnesses any opposing player evoke memories of Jordan on the court.
