Falcons' Bijan Robinson Donates $300K to Austin-Based Homelessness Charity

Atlanta Falcons star running back Bijan Robinson donated $300,000 to the Mobile Loaves & Fishes homelessness charity, according to the NFL Players' Association.

The charity donates "affordable, permanent housing and a supportive community for men and women who are coming out of chronic homelessness."

Mobile Loaves & Fishes noted on its website that the Community First! Village that Robinson contributed toward in Austin is a "transformative residential program [that] exists to love and serve our neighbors who have been living on the streets, while also empowering the surrounding community into a lifestyle of service with the homeless."

Robinson played for the Texas Longhorns during his college career, with the university's campus located in Austin.

In his rookie season with the Falcons, the 22-year-old rushed for 976 yards and four touchdowns, adding 58 catches for 487 yards and another four scores. One of the complaints regarding former head coach Arthur Smith was that he didn't get Robinson enough touches, given how explosive the young running back proved to be from the jump.

Such criticisms were also leveled at Smith's usage of former first-round picks like tight end Kyle Pitts and wideout Drake London.

This offseason, Robinson has dealt with an ankle injury that kept him out of the team's recent organized team activities. New head coach Raheem Morris told reporters Tuesday, however, that he believes the second-year running back will be available for June's mandatory minicamp.

"He's definitely learning the game above the neck," he added. "He's the first person to want to talk about it, so you know that's coming. But you can't help but smile when you see Bijan. That's just who he is, it's what he is, and I've got a lot of confidence that he'll be ready to go for our veteran minicamp. That'll get him a nice little break in between there, and when we get to training camp, I'd love to see him rolling."

It's been an offseason of change in Atlanta, with Morris taking over for Smith and the Falcons transitioning at quarterback from Desmond Ridder to Kirk Cousins (with surprising first-round pick Michael Penix Jr. backing him up).

Through all of those changes, however, expectations for Robinson remain sky-high.
