AEW, WWE Legend Jim Ross Says He Was Hospitalized Following 'Shortness of the Breath'

AEW commentator and WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross announced that he had to go to the emergency room Thursday morning.

Ross posted on X that the hospital trip was "unexpected" and a result of having shortness of breath:

The 72-year-old Ross has been with AEW since its inception in 2019, providing both play-by-play and color commentary during his tenure.

While Ross is no longer a full-time announcer, he is usually on the call for at least a match or two on most AEW pay-per-views.

Ross has faced health issues for quite some time, dating back to his term with WWE from 1993 into the 2010s. He notably suffered multiple Bell's palsy attacks, which caused temporary, partial facial paralysis and impacted his speech at times.

In more recent years, Ross has dealt with various other ailments. Ross announced he had skin cancer in 2021, but he was later deemed cancer free after undergoing radiation.

Ross announced in February that he had cancer surgery on his right hip and that it "went well."

JR is widely regarded as one of the greatest announcers in pro wrestling history thanks largely to his long, successful run with WWE.

Ross was essentially the voice of the Attitude Era for WWE in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and many of his calls are so iconic that they are still remembered and celebrated today.

In March, Ross announced that he signed a new, one-year contract with AEW and noted that it could be his final year as an announcer.
