Lakers' LeBron James: 'I Was in Awe' of Bronny's Mindset at 2024 NBA Draft Combine
LeBron James was a proud father watching Bronny James at the 2024 NBA draft combine.
The Los Angeles Lakers star was particularly impressed by his son's maturity and understanding of his potential future role.
"I just love his mindset. Just some of his answers to a lot of the questions that were given to him, I was in awe of because we never actually talked about it," James said on his Mind the Game podcast with JJ Redick (10:13 mark). "But he's living in it. He's living in the moment. He's carving out his own lane. He's definitely not his dad, and I'm not him."
Bronny James, who is considered a fringe prospect in the 2024 NBA draft class, said he has no false expectations to match up to his dad's legacy as a pro. Instead, the USC guard said he sees himself as a role player who makes winning plays at the next level.
"Guys like Davion Mitchell, Jrue Holiday, and Derrick White who excel in their role, get good money and get good playing time from it because they're locked into that role and know what they're supposed to do," Bronny James said at the combine.
