Giants' Daniel Jones Participates in 7-on-7 at Practice Amid Knee Injury Rehab

Andrew PetersMay 20, 2024

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is making progress in his recovery from a torn ACL.

Per Fox Sports' Ralph Vacchiano, Jones participated in 7-on-7 drills at the Giants' practice on Monday.

Jones suffered the injury in New York's Week 9 matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders in November and was sidelined for the remainder of the year. After getting some game-like reps in 7-on-7, it seems Jones is making strides towards his return to the field.

Jones was limited to just six games last season, collecting 909 passing yards, two touchdowns and six interceptions. He took a step back after the best season of his career in 2022, but he's looking to return to his former self in 2024.

The Giants seem to have put their trust in Jones after selecting a wide receiver rather than a quarterback with their No. 6 pick in the NFL draft. Many expected New York to take a quarterback, and there were even reports the Giants were trying to trade up to get a chance to pick Drake Maye.

Instead of finding a replacement for Jones, the Giants found him a weapon in Malik Nabers. The wide receiver out of LSU had 1,569 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns last year and seems poised to start his career off strong.

New York's receiving group was nothing special last season, but with Nabers joining the roster and second-year receiver Jalin Hyatt due for a leap, Jones could have some solid options in 2024.

For now, he'll look to continue his rehab process and prepare for the Giants' training camp in July.
