Bronny James Most Bet Prospect to Be No. 1 Overall Pick in 2024 NBA Draft at BetMGM
In news that will do nothing but delight the proprietors of sportsbooks, Bronny James is currently the most bet player to be taken No. 1 in the 2024 NBA draft at MGM sportsbooks.
Sports betting reporter Ben Fawkes reported 22.5 percent of all bets have been placed on the USC guard at 200-1:
While the exposure on these bets is low, this is an exercise in throwing money away. There is likely no avenue in which James rises up draft boards to even hear his name called in the lottery, let alone the first pick.
These are the equivalent of lottery tickets without paying out lottery odds. Bettors have a better chance of winning the Powerball or Mega Millions than James does at ascending to the top pick.
The eldest son of LeBron James, Bronny James struggled during his lone season at USC. He averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting 36.6 percent from the floor. Viewed as a potential lottery pick coming out of high school, James underwent surgery for a congenital heart defect after going into cardiac arrest during a USC practice last summer.
The NBA cleared James to play at the 2024 scouting combine and he acquitted himself well in drills, but nowhere near well enough to get himself in the top-pick conversation.
B/R's Jonathan Wasserman does not have James being selected in his latest mock draft and has him outside his top 50 overall players.
