2024 PGA Championship Round 2 Resumes After Weather Delay For Heavy Fog

Joseph ZuckerMay 18, 2024

Mother Nature was once again a factor in the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.

The resumption of the second round was delayed until 9:40 a.m. ET after heavy fog was on the course.

The PGA Tour announced earlier on Saturday that play was delayed "until further notice" due to the weather. At the time, eighteen golfers had yet to complete their rounds.

The weather delay also pushed back the tee times for the third round, which the tour projected to get underway at 11:17 a.m. ET at the earliest.

Fog also caused problems Thursday morning, forcing organizers to move the start of Round 1 back by 10 minutes.

The second round subsequently had a later start than expected due to the fatal accident near Valhalla Golf Club. A shuttle bus struck and killed John Mills, a Louisville resident who was working with a vendor for the event.

Play on Friday concluded at 8:41 p.m. ET.

Xander Schauffele is the PGA Championship leader through 36 holes with a score of 12 under. Collin Morikawa is one shot back in second place, while Sahith Theegala, Thomas Detry, Scottie Scheffler, Mark Hubbard and Bryson DeChambeau are all within three shots of Schauffele.

One under is the projected cut line with the second round still ongoing. Tiger Woods, Jon Rahm, Matt Fitzpatrick, Sungjae Im and Phil Mickelson are among the notable names due to miss the cut.
