WWE News: Cody Rhodes vs. Goldust to Be Added to Royal Rumble Card?
If you follow Goldust on Twitter, you know that he has been campaigning hard for a “Career vs. Title” match at WrestleMania 28 against his real-life brother Cody Rhodes.
The WWE creative team seemed to kick off a feud between the two on last week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, when Goldust (as Dustin Rhodes) got into an altercation with Cody. It would appear that the table is now set for Goldust’s wish to come true.
As it turns out, though, we might see Goldust vs. Rhodes before WrestleMania 28.

"The latest on Cody Rhodes vs. Goldust is that they may do something together at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

I originally wanted to see Rhodes vs. Goldust at WrestleMania, and my thought process was this: If Rhodes isn’t going to win the Royal Rumble and compete for a World title at WrestleMania 28 (which I don’t think is likely), then this would be a good way to get Rhodes a reasonably high-profile match on the card.
Then, news broke that the Money in the Bank match could be moving back to WrestleMania, and I immediately changed my mind.
While up-and-comers like Wade Barrett and Dolph Ziggler have already received World title shots in the past, Rhodes hasn’t yet, and I’d absolutely love to see him win the returning MITB match and then go on to also win either the WWE or World Heavyweight Championship.
In order for that to happen, though, we can’t see Goldust vs. Rhodes at WrestleMania.
So, why not at the Royal Rumble instead? The WWE is going to need a few matches besides the World title bouts to round out the card, and Goldust vs. Rhodes would be a great way to do that.
It would put Rhodes over in a huge way if he were to both defeat Goldust and have a memorable performance in the 30-man Rumble match all in the same night.
I'm now on Twitter and Formspring, so you can follow me or ask me anything!
