Under Armour All-American Game 2012: Where Will Kwon Alexander End Up?

Johnathan CaceJan 5, 2012

Thursday’s Under Armour All-American Game will feature some of the nation’s best talent, but it won’t be including outside linebacker prospect Kwon Alexander. The 4-star recruit has been on hand all week, but won’t be playing in the actual game because of an ACL injury.

According to rivals.com, he has named his top three finalists for where he’ll play his college ball: Alabama, Auburn and LSU.

Let’s break down each school and figure out where he’s going.

Alabama

1 of 3

The Tide are the only team Alexander has yet to officially visit, but he plans on doing that sometime this month. He says that all three schools remain tied at this point despite not having visited.

The only issue with Bama is that the three-deep roster doesn’t feature a single linebacker under 230 pounds, and Kwon is only 210 right now. He would need to gain at least 20 good pounds and then beat out a number of talented freshmen and sophomores already on the roster or switch to safety.

For that reason, he probably won’t be spending his time in crimson.

LSU

2 of 3

Alexander took his first official visit to the Tigers back in October and had this to say about his experience.

"LSU was a good visit," he said.

"All of the coaches and players were cool. The strength coach was cool. It was a good atmosphere."

That wasn’t exactly the most glowing terms he could have used, but he certainly fits better in terms of what the team tries to do on defense. But when you read about what he said about Auburn, you’ll realize why the LSU Tigers aren’t the Tigers he will end up with.

Auburn

3 of 3

Auburn is in Alabama and has sure impressed one of the state’s best.

"At Auburn, everything stood out," Alexander said.

"I have been down there so much that I know a lot about it already. It was like a regular visit to me.”

When “everything” stands out about the visit and you don’t talk about every school in that light, chances are you’re going to go there. Plus, Auburn runs a 4-3 with linebackers all close to his size. There’s no reason at this point not to assume Kwon Alexander won’t be headed to Auburn
