Dwyane Wade Injury: Latest on Flash's Foot Injury and Fantasy Status

Ryan RudnanskyJan 5, 2012

Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade is being listed as "questionable" before Thursday night's game against the Atlanta Hawks with a sore foot.

Wade has been battling the injury for several days and was held out on Wednesday against the Indiana Pacers.

There is certainly concern that Wade's injury will linger. Given the way he attacks the basket, he's prone to bumps and bruises throughout the season. There's no question that the Heat need him this season if they are going to win the title.

Looks like the Heat will have to beat the Hawks without their two stars tonight.

So far, Wade is averaging 18.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 2.0 blocks in six games. The Heat went 5-1 while he was on the court.

However, it is worth mentioning that the Heat, behind LeBron James' 33 points and 13 assists, blew out the Pacers on Wednesday, 118-83. But James also suffered an ankle sprain against the Pacers and he has reportedly experienced swelling, which makes him "questionable" for Thursday's game, as well.

Tweeted Brian Windhorst of ESPN on Wednesday night:

Perhaps the only thing that will keep the Heat from winning the championship this season is if Wade and James aren't 100 percent going into the playoffs. Given it's a shortened regular season this year, they are more susceptible to injury because of more back-to-back games.

"

"I think the back-to-back the other day kind of hurt me and made it real sore. Probably as sore as it’s been, so at this moment it’s about taking time and being smart and seeing how my foot is going to feel.”

"

Now, the question is, do the Heat push Wade and gun for the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, or do they remain cautious with him with a greater chance of him being healthy for the playoffs?
