Bears' Rookies Who Will Make Instant Impact in 2024 Season

Joe TanseyMay 13, 2024

The Chicago Bears are the frontrunner to have the most impactful rookie class for the 2024 NFL season.

Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze are expected to take the Bears offense to a level it has not reached in decades.

Williams has been lauded as a top NFL prospect since he was in high school. His play at Oklahoma and USC furthered that hype.

Odunze broke on to the scene last season during Washington's run to the College Football Playoff National Championship.

The pair of top-10 picks should be great additions to a passing unit that already has D.J. Moore, Keenan Allen and Cole Kmet.

Williams and Odunze's success is what matters to the Bears' rookie class being successful, but one of the late-round picks could be a good complementary piece as well.

Williams enters the NFL with a ton of hype to be the next great quarterback in the NFL.

The Bears thought they had that in Justin Fields, but they shipped him to Pittsburgh to clear room for Williams.

Williams threw for 10,082 yards and 93 touchdowns in his three collegiate seasons split between Oklahoma and USC.

The most exciting stat, though, for his NFL success is the 14 interceptions. He never had more than five picks in a single season.

Keeping turnovers down is vital for any rookie quarterback. Williams has better help in three top-tier receivers to keep that number down.

All signs are pointing to Williams being successful in Chicago and it is not crazy to think he could lead the Bears to the playoffs in year one.

Rome Odunze

Odunze does not have to deal with the pressure that other first-round wide receivers go through.

Odunze will not be the primary playmaker on the Chicago roster in Week 1.

That should help him learn under Moore and Allen and be a more refined player by the middle of the campaign.

Odunze proved last season he could shine in a loaded wide receiver room. He had 1,640 yards for a Washington team that had three receivers chosen in the first three rounds.

He may not be the Bears' top pass-catcher, that title still probably belongs to Moore, but he could have numbers that beat out the majority of rookie pass-catchers.

Tory Taylor

Tory Taylor is a great complementary piece for the Bears to have in their rookie class alongside Williams and Odunze.

The Bears only had five draft picks, but three of them could make an instant impact in Week 1.

Taylor averaged over 44 yards per punt in all four of his seasons at Iowa. He had a career-best 48.2 yards per punt in 2023.

A year ago, Trenton Gill averaged 46.1 yards per punt for the Bears.

If Taylor punts at the same rate in 2024, he will boost the punting numbers and put the Bears' opponents in worse field position.

The hope is Taylor does not punt as much as he did at Iowa, but if he has to, he can be a special teams difference-maker.
