JJ Redick Laughs at Video of Colin Cowherd Ripping Backwards Hat amid Lakers Rumors
ESPN analyst JJ Redick couldn't help but laugh when he became the focus of Colin Cowherd's lengthy crusade against backwards hats.
Wednesday on The Herd, Cowherd commented on the newest episode of Redick's podcast with LeBron James. Redick was wearing his hat backward during the show, which led the radio personality to say he "looks like a guy that's gonna move my couch." Cowhered added it's a bad look for somebody with aspirations of working in the NBA.
Redick had a suitably dismissive response, and his podcast co-host LeBron James later chimed in, drawing Cowherd's attention:
To those unfamiliar, backwards hats have long been a bรชte noire for Cowherd. He elaborated on his "theory" Wednesday, which basically boils down to his idea it doesn't present a professional image.
The notion doesn't apply to figures in a position of organizational leadership, either. Cowherd said in November he had reservations about Brock Purdy's suitability to be the San Francisco 49ers' franchise quarterback because he wore his hat backwards at the podium during a press conference.
Redick is reportedly a candidate for the Los Angeles Lakers amid their search to replace head coach Darvin Ham. He's a somewhat surprising given his lack of any NBA coaching experience along with the fact the Lakers are trying to win a championship now with LeBron James.
Because of that, you'd consider the retired guard to still be a bit of a long shot at this point.
In the event Redick doesn't get the job, we can safely assume it's not because he likes to wear a backwards hat on occasion.
