Knicks' Jalen Brunson Jokes DiVincenzo Is an 'Assh--e' for Michael Jordan Comparison
You don't tug on Superman's cape. You don't spit into the wind. And you don't get yourself drawn into a comparison with Michael Jordan.
New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson joked with reporters Tuesday that, "If you know my friends, you should know that they're all assh--es," after he made sure to quickly nip any parallels to MJ in the bud following Monday's 121-117 win over the Indiana Pacers.
Brunson dropped 43 points in the victory, which was his fourth straight 40-point outing this postseason.
Jordan was the last player to achieve the feat, something that was brought up during the postgame press conference. In that moment, Donte DiVincenzo could be heard reacting to the reference to His Airness, which prompted Brunson to quickly say, "Stop."
The Knicks guard isn't the only player attempting to distance himself from MJ comps this postseason. Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards told Fox Sports' Melissa Rohlin that "I want it to stop," in reference to people saying they see shades of the Chicago Bulls legend in his game.
There's simply nothing to be gained from getting yourself placed into the same conversation with the player who's almost universally considered the greatest ever. For Brunson, it's not even something to joke about.
