Video: Naoya Inoue Beats Luis Nery by KO to Keep Undisputed Super Bantamweight Title

Naoya Inoue's power was once again too much for an opponent to overcome.

Inoue earned a sixth-round knockout of Luis Nery on Monday to retain his undisputed super bantamweight titles.

The Japanese fighter moved to 27-0 with the victory and has knocked out 24 opponents overall. This was far from Inoue's easiest fight, as Nery knocked him down in the first round with a thunderous left hand.

"It was a great feeling to knock him down but how about that surprise in the first round?" Inoue said after the fight. "As a boxer, when that happens to you it fires you up. It gave me a lot of energy."

Inoue became undisputed champion last December with a win over Marlon Tapales. Each of his last eight fights have resulted in a knockout, and he's become one of the sports' biggest fan draws.

Monday's fight was held at the Tokyo Dome, marking the first boxing match to be held there since Mike Tyson's loss to Buster Douglas in 1990.

"There was a lot of pressure on me as the main event in the first boxing at Tokyo Dome in 34 years, but it gave me strength," Inoue said.

Nery's record dropped to 35-2 with the loss.
