Drew Gulak Released by WWE amid Ronda Rousey Allegations of Inappropriate Behavior

Mike ChiariMay 3, 2024

One month after former WWE and UFC star Ronda Rousey alleged that Drew Gulak previously had an inappropriate interaction backstage with her at a WWE event, Gulak is reportedly now gone from WWE.

PWInsider (h/t Wrestle Ops) reported Friday that Gulak was released from his WWE contract.

Gulak's release was reportedly one of several cuts made by WWE to its NXT brand Friday. Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp reported that Darrell Mason, Vlad Pavlenko, Ezekiel Balogun, Kiyah Saint, Emma Diaz, Valentina Feroz, Keyshawn Leflore, Trey Bearhill and Julian Baldi were also released.

Last month, Rousey made an appearance on NewsNation while promoting her book and said a male WWE Superstar grabbed the drawstring on her sweatpants while she was with WWE:

Rousey initially didn't name the person she was accusing, but she eventually said it was Gulak. She added that she confronted him about the incident afterward.

After Rousey went public with the information, Gulak made a post on X admitting that he touched the drawstring of her sweatpants backstage at a WWE show in 2022. However, he insisted it was an accident that occurred when he went to shake hands, and he said that he apologized to Rousey for it:

Despite Gulak's post, he was removed from WWE programming after Rousey told her story.

In the weeks and months prior, Gulak was a regular part of NXT as the leader of No Quarter Catch Crew. As a group, they won the NXT Heritage Cup from Noam Dar in February.

Gulak suddenly stopped appearing on screen with the stable, and Charlie Dempsey seemed to take on more of a leadership role.

On an episode of NXT a few weeks ago, it was suggested that No Quarter Catch Crew had hired Tony D'Angelo and his family to take out Gulak, which was essentially WWE's way of writing him off television for good.

Gulak, 37, had been with WWE since 2016 when he competed in the Cruiserweight Classic. He spent a significant amount of time in the cruiserweight division and had a run on the main roster before going to NXT in 2022.

All told, Gulak was a one-time cruiserweight champion and eight-time 24/7 champion during his WWE tenure.
