Report: Fox Sports Eyes $7M+ for 30-Second Ads During 2025 NFL Super Bowl

Mike ChiariMay 1, 2024

Super Bowl LIX is more than nine months away, but Fox is reportedly already laying down parameters for ad sales related to the big game.

According to Brian Steinberg of Variety, multiple sources have indicated that Fox is seeking at least $7 million for each 30-second ad that will air during next year's Super Bowl.

Steinberg noted that it marks a slight uptick from this past Super Bowl, as Paramount Global's initial asking price for 30-second commercials was between $6.5 million and $7 million.

A buying executive questioned Steinberg if advertisers would be "chomping at the bit" to quickly purchase a Super Bowl LIX ad at such a high asking price, although it can be argued that Fox has some bargaining power on its side.

Super Bowl LVIII, which aired in February and saw the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers in overtime, was viewed by an estimated 123.7 million viewers.

CBS averaged 120.3 million viewers, which was the highest average for a single network in Super Bowl history.

On top of that, Steinberg suggested that Fox is perhaps eager to get the biggest revenue influx it possibly can for Super Bowl LIX since it will have to wait longer than usual to air another Super Bowl.

Disney is now part of the Super Bowl rotation along with Fox, CBS and NBC, meaning Fox won't have the rights to another Super Bowl until 2029.

The Chiefs have won back-to-back Super Bowls and played in four of the past five, and companies that buy Super Bowl ad time may be banking on another Chiefs Super Bowl appearance making it worthwhile.

The fact that global musical megastar and girlfriend of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift, was in attendance at Super Bowl LVIII undoubtedly brought in new viewers and a different demographic.

While the Super Bowl is always going to get more eyes on an ad than any other television program or event over the course of a year, the Swift factor could give advertisers even more bang for their buck.
