Woj: Lakers Will Take 'a Couple Days' to Evaluate Darvin Ham's Future amid NBA Rumors

Following the Los Angeles Lakers' disappointing first-round exit at the hands of the Denver Nuggets, the team is reportedly taking some time to evaluate its head coaching position.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Tuesday's episode of NBA Today that "the Lakers are gonna take at least a couple days here to talk within their organization" about the status of head coach Darvin Ham.

The Lakers lost their first-round series against the Nuggets 4-1 after point guard Jamal Murray hit his second game-winning jumper of the series in Monday's Game 5. It's the second straight postseason that Los Angeles was eliminated by Denver, following last season's sweep in the Western Conference Finals.

Ham has led the Lakers to a 90-74 record in two seasons as head coach, including a 43-39 finish to this season. He's also the only coach to have an In-Season Tournament championship on his resume. However, he's faced criticism throughout the year for his decision-making and many have questioned if he's experienced enough to coach a veteran-laden team led by star forward LeBron James and big man Anthony Davis.

Wojnarowski reported that Los Angeles has not given Ham a vote of confidence that he will remain at the helm.

"The Lakers have had every opportunity to publicly say that Darvin Ham is their coach, or to privately assure him that he will be back," Wojnarowski said. "Neither of those has happened."

Wojnarowski also added that Los Angeles is a team that is "poised this summer to really improve" by packaging draft picks in trade offers in hopes of landing a superstar. Perhaps the team will decide it's best to make a coaching change as it tries to return to title contention next season.
