Odell Beckham Jr., Ryan Tannehill Best Landing Spots After 2024 NFL Draft Day 2

The NFL draft has one day remaining, and attention will turn toward other league calendar events, such as offseason workouts and the schedule release.

But there's some unresolved news out there to discuss, such as the landing spots for notable free agents. There isn't a shortage of veteran talent out there, specifically on the offensive side of the ball.

Here's a look at some potential homes for two of them in particular: wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

Best Landing Spots: Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Chargers, Dallas Cowboys

The Miami Dolphins could use a solid WR3 to join Tyreek Hill and Jayden Waddle. Beckham can be the answer there and help the Fins compete in a tough AFC with plenty of high-powered offenses. With so much attention going toward an all-world talent in Hill and another superstar in Waddle, who would be a WR1 on many other teams, Beckham coulds thrive in town.

The Los Angeles Chargers just added Georgia wide receiver Ladd McConkey to the mix, but they also lost Keenan Allen and Mike Williams this offseason. The Bolts need more reinforcements for quarterback Justin Herbert and should keep adding to the wide receiver room. They have more Day 3 picks on the way, including two in the early portion of Round 4, but they can also go the free agency route. If so, Beckham and Tyler Boyd are the biggest names out there.

The Dallas Cowboys have had an oddly quiet offseason, especially after experiencing a brutal end to the 2023 campaign in a 48-32 loss to the Green Bay Packers in the wild card. They don't look any better than last year as currently constructed and could use more help. Beckham and the Cowboys once had discussions with each other about linking up, but that didn't come through. It's clear there was mutual interest. Perhaps they revisit it.

Best Landing Spots: Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers

Once upon a time, Kyle Trask and Baker Mayfield were in competition for the Buccaneers' QB1 spot. Mayfield won out, enjoyed a career resurrection in 2023 and is now signed in Tampa Bay long-term. Trask, a second-round pick in 2021, has only thrown 10 passes in his NFL career. The Bucs would ultimately be better served with a more experienced backup behind Mayfield. Plus, at this point, Trask is on a contract year, and it's certainly possible that both sides part ways after this season as is, so it's not as if the Bucs are linked with him long-term.

Detroit Lions backup Hendon Hooker is a tantalizing talent who once dominated at Tennessee and finished fifth in the 2022 Heisman Trophy race. But he also hasn't played since suffering a devastating knee injury that ended his collegiate career in Nov. 2022. Hooker could very well find a home as a QB1 somewhere someday and carve out a successful career. But it may also be a bit nervy to hand the keys to him if QB1 Jared Goff has to miss time simply due to his lack of experience.

In Green Bay, Jordan Love looks like the real deal and should be QB1 in town for a really long time after a great rookie year, but it would probably behoove the team to get some more experience in the QB room. Sean Clifford was a superstar at Penn State, and he was a fantastic leader on and off the field. He should have a nice career as a backup in this league and could even get some shots as a spot starter for teams here and there. But as of now, he is QB2 and has just one lifetime pass to show for it from his 2023 rookie year. Tannehill could be a good addition here.
