The Philadelphia 76ers took Game 3 of the team's first-round series against the New York Knicks by the final score of 125-114 on Thursday.

Facing a potential 3-0 series deficit, Joel Embiid delivered an extremely efficient performance in front of a raucous Philadelphia crowd to secure the win. He finished the game with a playoff career-high 50 points, adding eight rebounds while shooting 68.4 percent from the field and 71.4 percent from three.

Embiid became the first player to score at least 45 points against the Knicks in the postseason since Michael Jordan in 1996.

Tyrese Maxey chipped in with 25 points and seven assists on 9-21 shooting, while backup point guard Cameron Payne led all reserves with 11 points off the bench. The 76ers were on fire from behind the arc, shooting 48 percent from three-point range as a team.

Fans were impressed with Embiid's dominant night.

Jalen Brunson recorded 39 points and 13 assists while shooting 48.1 percent from the field, although it wasn't enough to pull out a win. New York led by three points at the half before the 76ers took a lead in the third quarter that they wouldn't relinquish for the rest of the game.

Now, the Knicks will attempt to take a 3-1 series lead while Philadelphia will try to tie the series at two games apiece in Game 4 on Sunday.
