Video: C.J. Stroud Reacts to Micah Parsons' Challenge for Cowboys-Texans 2024 Game

C.J. Stroud is putting the NFL world on notice.

The Houston Texans quarterback turned heads during a back-and-forth discussion with Dallas Cowboys pass-rusher Micah Parsons on Thursday. While Parsons suggested Stroud is yet to face a defender who is a "killer" and "ain't never looked a killer in his eyes before," the signal-caller had quite the response.

"You're sitting on the couch with one," Stroud said.

The implication from Parsons, of course, is that the quarterback will face a killer during the 2024 season when his Cowboys face the Texans.

Texans fans will surely love to hear that confidence as their franchise quarterback heads into his second season, especially since he said it directly to one of the best defensive players in the league.

All Stroud did in his first season was win Offensive Rookie of the Year by completing 63.9 percent of his passes for 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also led the Texans to their first AFC South title since the 2019 campaign.

He will be under quite the spotlight with MVP expectations in 2024, but the Texans put him in even better position to succeed by adding wide receiver Stefon Diggs this offseason. Diggs is a four-time Pro Bowler with six straight seasons of more than 1,000 receiving yards.

Diggs is joining a wide receiver group that already included Nico Collins and Tank Dell.

Houston also added running back Joe Mixon this offseason, giving Stroud another weapon as the team looks to go from playoff contender to realistic Super Bowl threat.

The game against Parsons and the Cowboys will be a measuring-stick one for the Texans. After all, Dallas has been to the playoffs in each of the last three seasons and has plenty of star power on the defensive side with Parsons and Diggs' brother, Trevon.

It seems like there will be no shortage of trash talk when the two teams face each other. Fans may even get to see Trevon Diggs guarding Stefon Diggs while Parsons is blitzing Stroud.

It will be a chance for the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year to prove that he is, truly, a "killer" on the field.
