A.J. Brown, Eagles Agree to 3-Year, $96M Contract After Trade Rumors, DeVonta Deal

Andrew PetersApr 25, 2024

The Philadelphia Eagles have reached a three-year, $96 million extension with star wide receiver A.J. Brown, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The deal includes $84 million guaranteed and will give him the highest per-year average for any wide receiver at $32 million when it kicks in starting in 2027.

The deal comes after Brown notched 1,456 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, giving him back-to-back seasons with more than 1,400 receiving yards.

The deal comes after trade rumors surrounding the three-time Pro Bowler. Last week, it was reported that several teams asked Philadelphia about a trade for Brown, but the Eagles shut down those inquiries. Inking an extension with Brown all but confirms Philadelphia is committed to him.

By securing Brown for three more years, the Eagles have locked down their two best receivers on long-term deals. Earlier in April, Philadelphia signed star DeVonta Smith to a three-year, $75 million extension.

Smith notched back-to-back seasons of 1,000-plus receiving yards in 2022 and 2023.

After Brown's deal was reported, a post from Smith on social media indicated he's excited for his co-star.

Now the two offensive weapons will look to lead the Eagles back to the Super Bowl after a disappointing ending to the 2023 season. Philadelphia seemed poised for a championship run after a hot start last year, but it struggled late and ultimately faced a Wild Card Round exit against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Eagles reloaded by extending Brown and Smith, and they added more offensive firepower by signing running back Saquon Barkley. Those offseason moves make for a promising year ahead for Philadelphia.
