Lions' Amon-Ra St. Brown on $120M Contract: 'I Told Everyone, I'm Going Harder Now'

Doric SamApr 25, 2024

Detroit Lions star Amon-Ra St. Brown now has the distinction of being the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL after his massive contract extension, but his motivation remains as high as ever.

When asked about how he maintains his mindset after receiving a huge payday, St. Brown told ESPN's Eric Woodyard, "I gotta go harder. I told everyone, I'm going harder now."

St. Brown agreed to a four-year, $120 million contract extension that includes $77 million guaranteed on Wednesday, surpassing the guarantees on the deals of Los Angeles Rams star Cooper Kupp and Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill.

The 24-year-old had a stellar 2023 campaign, tying for second in the NFL with 119 receptions, ranking third with 1,515 yards and tying for fourth with 10 touchdowns. He helped lead the Lions to an NFC North title and a run to the NFC Championship Game, and he said he believes the team can go even further in 2024.

"I'm not changing. My goal, or our goal, is that Lombardi [Trophy]. We need it, we feel like we can do it, so that's our goal going into this season, we want that trophy," he said. "But I'm not changing, everyone knows that, or I hope they do, or they'll find out."
