Report: Tim Tszyu vs. Vergil Ortiz Fight Planned for Aug. 3; Ruiz-Miller on Undercard

Ahead of his fight against Thomas Dulorme on Saturday, Vergil Ortiz reportedly already has his next match lined up.

According to ESPN's Mike Coppinger, a bout between Ortiz and former light middleweight champion Tim Tszyu is being planned for August 3 in Los Angeles, provided Ortiz emerges uninjured from Saturday's fight. Coppinger also reported on Monday that former heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz will make his return in a fight against Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller on the same card.

Both fights will be a part of the undercard of the WBA light middleweight title fight between champion Israil Madrimov and undisputed welterweight champion Terence Crawford. There will also be a title fight between WBA light welterweight champion Pitbull Cruz and Jose Valenzuela. The card is presented by Riyadh Season, which is the first boxing event organized by Saudi Arabia outside the kingdom.

Tszyu is looking to bounce back from his first career loss, which occurred less than a month ago on March 30 by a split decision against Sebastian Fundora, which cost him his WBO light middleweight title. He was originally set to face Keith Thurman in a catchweight bout that day, but Thurman pulled out of the fight less than two weeks before its scheduled date.

Ortiz's fight against Dulorme will be his second career fight at light middleweight. He most recently defeated Frederick Lawson by first-round TKO in January, which extended his undefeated record to 20-0.

Ruiz will be fighting for the first time since September 2022 when he defeated Luis Ortiz via unanimous decision. The 34-year-old famously shocked the world when he became heavyweight champion by defeating Anthony Joshua by seventh-round TKO in 2019.

The Aug. 3 card is shaping up to be one of the most stacked card of the year that will surely excite fans.
