NFL Coach: Rome Odunze 'the Safest Pick' of Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers Trio

Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. has by far the best pedigree of any pass-catcher in the 2024 NFL draft class with a strong college career to boot. Still, he isn't the biggest sure thing available in the eyes of at least one coach.

The coach told The Athletic's Jeff Howe that Washington star Rome Odunze is "the safest pick of the three" between he, Harrison and LSU's Malik Nabers.

On NFL executive concurred with the assessment: "He's maybe the cleanest prospect out of the three."

Odunze's stock rose steadily over the course of the 2023 season. He had 92 receptions for 1,640 yards and 13 touchdowns as Washington finished runner-up to Michigan in the College Football Playoff.

The 6'3", 212-pound wideout helped himself further at the NFL Scouting Combine when he ran a 4.45-second 40-yard dash. While he may not have the most explosive physical tools at the position, his combination of speed, size and polish make him an attractive prospect.

Bleacher Report NFL Derrik Klassen wrote in his scouting report that Odunze has shades of three-time All-Pro Davante Adams.

"Odunze is a quarterback's best friend," he said. "He's a reliable route-runner with good size and an accuracy-erasing catch radius. Odunze can be a classic X receiver who moonlights as a slot receiver from time to time thanks to his awareness and ability to play in traffic."

When it comes to the three best receivers in the class, you seemingly couldn't go too wrong ranking them in whatever order. Watching their careers unfold and comparing their résumés should be a lot of fun.
