Zaccharie Risacher Enters 2024 NBA Draft; Potential No. 1 Overall Pick

Tyler ConwayApr 22, 2024

French forward Zaccharie Risacher, who could be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft, officially entered his name into the player pool Monday.

"It's always been my dream to get to the best league in the world," Risacher told ESPN's Jonathan Givony. "I've been putting the work in for this since I was a kid. JL Bourg has given me an incredible opportunity to showcase what I can do. It's been the perfect place to start my young career. I'm really grateful to have the opportunity to play for this organization."

Risacher was projected as the No. 3 pick in the latest mock draft by Jonathan Wasserman of B/R. Wasserman compared Risacher to Harrison Barnes as a pro projection.

"The appeal to Risacher focuses mostly on three-and-D, as the eye test buy his high, quick release, while his positional size, length and foot speed consistently pop on defensive contests," Wasserman wrote.

The 2024 NBA draft class is considered one of the weakest in recent memory, with few players projecting as generational superstars. Risacher is among the most projectable players in the class, averaging 10.4 points and 3.4 rebounds for JL Bourg while shooting 39.4 percent from three-point range.

"There are a lot of things I can bring an NBA team," Risacher said. "First of all—my number one strength is my shooting. Then my defensive ability after that. And lastly, my ability to do what's asked of me, using my versatility -- I can rebound, handle the ball if needed, finish above the rim, pass the ball. Whatever you ask me to do I will do it and do it well."

Where Risacher winds up going on draft night will likely depend on the results of the lottery. Kentucky guard Rob Dillingham and fellow French forward Alex Sarr are also expected to compete for the No. 1 overall pick.
