Cormani McClain Shades Deion Sanders, Colorado in Video on Transfer and 'Clicks'

Cormani McClain is certainly turning heads on his way out of Colorado.

The cornerback, who entered the transfer portal and is leaving the Buffaloes, posted a video titled "Next Step" on YouTube on Saturday and made some noteworthy comments about head coach Deion Sanders' program.

In the first two minutes of the video, he said he is hoping to "change the narrative surrounding my name and be a part of a real and great program that's going to impact me to the best of my ability."

He also said, "I feel like I just don't want to play for clicks. I actually want to be involved with a great leading program that's going to develop players."

Sanders' program certainly generated far more headlines than wins during his first season as head coach. While Colorado started 3-0 with a win over TCU and seemed to be quickly turning the corner under its Hall of Fame head coach, it went 1-8 from there and finished in last place in the Pac-12.

Losing McClain won't help, as he was a 5-star prospect and the No. 1 cornerback in the class of 2023, per 247Sports' composite rankings.

While he was a secondary contributor during his freshman season with 13 tackles and two passes defended in nine games, he figured to take on a bigger role as a sophomore with plenty of potential.

However, he will look to realize that potential elsewhere now.

Life in the transfer portal is nothing new for Sanders' Buffaloes, as ESPN's Tom VanHaaren noted 12 players entered the portal from November to March and another 14 have done so since the start of the spring window.

This comes after Colorado added 86 new players and 53 transfers in Sanders' first season.

Still, losing someone like McClain hurts as the Buffaloes turn their attention toward bouncing back from a disappointing 2023 campaign.
