Wolves' Anthony Edwards: Exchange with Suns' Kevin Durant 1 of 'Best Feelings Ever'

Andrew PetersApr 20, 2024

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards had some words for Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant during a dominant 120-91 win on Saturday, and Edwards said the exchange was "one of the best feelings" of his life.

"I think everybody here knows that's my favorite player of all time," Edwards said. "That was probably one of the best feelings ever in my whole life, for sure."

Durant also discussed the exchange in his post-game comments, saying "it's just basketball" and that "it's on me to keep coming back."

Edwards had an outstanding Game 1, putting up 33 points, nine rebounds and six assists to lead Minnesota to the win.

With the win, the Timberwolves picked up a 1-0 lead in what is sure to be a tough first-round matchup. Minnesota's top-ranked defense managed to contain Devin Booker, limiting him to 18 points, and Bradley Beal, limiting him to just 15. If they can continue to manage the two stars, the Wolves could be moving on to the second round.

Edwards proved last season that he's ready to perform in the playoffs, averaging 31.6 points per game in Minnesota's first-round matchup with the Denver Nuggets. That series ended with a loss to the eventual champs, but the Timberwolves seem capable of a first-round win and more this year.

The Timberwolves were one win away from earning the top seed in the West, but they're looking to make a deep run as the No. 3 seed. They got a difficult draw against Durant and the Suns, but a win in the first game is a positive sign.

If Edwards can continue his momentum into the rest of the series, the Wolves can notch their first playoff series win since 2004.
