After spending one season with the Washington Wizards, Tyus Jones has found a new home with the Phoenix Suns.

Per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Jones has agreed to a one-year, $3.3 million deal with the Suns.

Jones told Wojnarowski of his decision to join Phoenix:

"The chance to play for the Phoenix Suns made the most sense on a lot of levels to me and my family -- beginning with the way [governor] Mat Ishbia and the front office recruited me to how coach [Mike Budenholzer] showed me how I can significantly impact a team that has a real opportunity to challenge for an NBA title as their starting point guard."
"My agent [Bradbury] walked me and my family through multiple free agent offers and sign-and-trade proposals at a number of different financial levels, but the Suns' opportunity is where I can best maximize my value for a return to free agency next year as well as give myself a chance to be part of what I think will be a special team and season."

Here's a look at the team's updated depth chart.

Suns' 2024-25 Depth Chart

PG: Tyus Jones, Monte Morris

SG: Bradley Beal, Josh Okogie

SF: Devin Booker, Grayson Allen, David Roddy

PF: Kevin Durant, Royce O'Neale, Nassir Little

C: Jusuf Nurkic, Mason Plumlee, Bol Bol

The Wizards acquired Jones from the Memphis Grizzlies in June 2023 as part of the three-team trade that sent Kristaps Porziņģis to the Boston Celtics.

Playing in Washington allowed Jones to be a full-time starter for the first time in his career. He previously played behind Ja Morant in Memphis and Ricky Rubio with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Even though there weren't many things that went right for the Wizards last season, Jones certainly was a big positive. He set career-highs in scoring average (12.0), assists (7.3), field-goal percentage (48.9) and three-point percentage (41.4) in 66 starts.

There were rumblings leading up to the trade deadline that Washington was looking to trade Jones in order to add a future asset. Instead, he remained with the club for the entire season.

The Wizards are in desperate need of a reset going into next season, though this may not have been the best move for them. They set a franchise record for losses in a single season during the 2023-24 campaign (67) and only managed to avoid having the worst mark in the NBA because the Detroit Pistons were historically bad.

For Jones, though, going to a situation with the Suns that will allow him to showcase his ability with an opportunity to challenge for a playoff spot.
