Clippers Rumors: P.J. Tucker Expected to Exercise $11.5M Contract Option for 2024-25

Doric SamMay 4, 2024

Veteran forward P.J. Tucker isn't expected to leave Los Angeles this summer.

Despite being removed from the rotation during the 2023-24 campaign, Tucker is expected to pick up his $11.5 million option for the 2024-25 season to remain with the Los Angeles Clippers, HoopsHype's Michael Scotto reported on Saturday.

Tucker was sent to Los Angeles from the Philadelphia 76ers on Nov. 1 as part of the James Harden trade. Unfortunately, he failed to find his footing and fell out of the rotation in less than a month.

After not playing since Nov. 27, Tucker told ESPN in early February that he was "actively trying to get traded." He received a $75,000 fine from the NBA on Feb. 15 for publicly voicing his trade demands.

Tucker wasn't moved before the trade deadline and eventually returned to action on Feb. 27. In all, he appeared in 28 games and made seven regular-season starts. He also started Game 6 on Friday against the Dallas Mavericks, playing 20 minutes in the team's season finale.

A 13-year veteran, Tucker has also played for the Toronto Raptors, Phoenix Suns, Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat. He was a member of Milwaukee's NBA championship team in 2021.

The 38-year-old will certainly be hoping to earn more playing time next year. Tucker is still a capable defender, so he should be able to carve out a role on a Clippers team that once again underwhelmed in the postseason.
