Dion Dawkins: Bills' Super Bowl Window Is Open Despite 'Haymaker' Stefon Diggs Trade

Andrew PetersApr 13, 2024

Despite a trade that sent star wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans, Buffalo Bills left tackle Dion Dawkins believes the team's Super Bowl window is still open.

Making an appearance on The Jim Rome Show, Dawkins admitted that the Diggs trade was a "haymaker," but he has faith in his teammates heading into the year.

"When you've got a team of guys that lead with good hearts, good athleticism, good football, and when we put that helmet and them pads on and that jersey and it says Bills, that window is always open," Dawkins said (h/t Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper). "It's always open. Like it could be a little bit more, but nah, it's open. And it'll always be open. And as long as Josh is at quarterback, that's what I can talk for."

Diggs was Buffalo's leading receiving a year ago, notching 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns. That number marked his sixth-straight season with more than 1,000 receiving yards, the last four coming with the Bills.

Now quarterback Josh Allen will have to find a new target to try and replicate the Bills' 2023 offensive success. The team's second-leading receiver, Gabe Davis, signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in March, so Buffalo has even more production to account for in 2024.

The Bills still have tight end Dalton Kincaid, who had 673 receiving yards in 2023, along with receiver Khalil Shakir, who had 611 yards last year, but they will likely look to find more production before the start of the season.

Buffalo has the No. 28 pick in the upcoming NFL draft, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see it trade up to draft a talented receiver.

If the Bills can give Allen some targets on offense, then Dawkins' claim that the window is still open should be true.
