Rome Odunze Says He's 2024 NFL Draft's Best WR over Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers

Washington standout Rome Odunze believes that he's the top wide receiver in the 2024 NFL draft class over fellow prospects such as Ohio State's Marvin Harrison Jr. and LSU's Malik Nabers.

"I believe so," Odunze said in an appearance on The Pivot Podcast (36:25 mark). "I do. I think I'm the best wide receiver in the draft, just because my versatility, who I am as a player. I think when you turn on the tape, I don't see anything that is missing compared to the other guys or something that they have that I don't or, you know, vice versa."

Odunze clarified that he wasn't attempting to diminish the accomplishments of other receivers entering the draft, although he believes that he's at the top.

"They're tremendous players as well and it's not like there's a gap between this person and this person or this person and this person," he said. "I'm like man we all right there. I just see myself at the tippy top just because of the film, what's on there, what I'm capable to do, what I've been able to do for a couple years now and the skills that I have that I think will project very well into the league."

The 21-year-old improved his production during each of his four seasons at Washington, culminating in a 2023 campaign that helped the Huskies earn a Pac-12 title. Odunze hauled in 92 catches for 1,640 yards while recording 13 touchdown receptions.

He was named a finalist for the 2023 Biletnikoff Award, which is given to the most outstanding receiver in the country. Harrison Jr. ended up taking the trophy home, however.

Odunze held the No. 2 ranking among all wide receivers in the 2024 draft on the latest big board from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department and was given an overall player grade of 8.9. Harrison Jr. held the top spot, while Nabers was ranked No. 3.

B/R NFL Scout Derrik Klassen was impressed with Odunze's ability to track the ball in the air and come down with contested catches.

"Odunze is a quarterback's best friend," Klassen wrote. "He's a reliable route-runner with good size and an accuracy-erasing catch radius."

While he may not be selected before Harrison Jr. on April 25, NFL front offices will certainly take Odunze's confidence in himself into account when making a decision about possibly selecting the receiver on Day 1.
