The Rock's Best Potential Opponents After WWE WrestleMania Win Over Cody Rhodes

The Rock made his triumphant return to WWE Saturday night at WrestleMania 40, teaming with Roman Reigns to defeat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in the biggest tag team match in event history.

The Final Boss’ performance in Philadelphia proved that even at 51 years old, he is still able to electrify audiences between the ropes.

On the heels of his in-ring return, who should be up next to battle The People’s Champion in a WWE ring?

The answers are obvious and awesome.

Seth Rollins

The argument can be made that Seth "Freakin" Rollins directly impacted the downfall of The Bloodline that occurred at WrestleMania.

Not only did he join Cody Rhodes in battling Rock and Roman Reigns Saturday night, but he was every bit the "shield" he promised The American Nightmare he would be in Sunday's main event.

Rollins directly led to Rhodes' title win over Reigns and the end his iconic 1,316-day run and would be the perfect first foil for The Rock on his path back to the WrestleMania main event.

The Visionary is also an all-timer when it comes to in-ring performance. He is a workhorse for the company, something he prides himself on, and would be able to help carry Rock to a worthy singles match.

Cody Rhodes

The most obvious choice for Rock's next opponent is the new undisputed WWE universal champion Cody Rhodes, with whom The Final Boss shared the opening segment of Monday Night Raw.

The seeds have been planted for a showdown within the next year, potentially next year's WrestleMania 41. More importantly, it is a logical next step in the story's progression.

Rock beat Rhodes in the tag team main event of Saturday, too, adding credence to the idea that he should challenge The American Nightmare at some point in the near future.

WrestleMania, where the story can be whether or not Rhodes can beat The Final Boss, is the appropriate setting for a match of that magnitude.

Especially with the idea that Rock can make life a living hell as a member of the Board of Directors.

Roman Reigns

One of the key spots from the tag team main event from WrestleMania Saturday was the errant spear from Reigns to Rock that left The Tribal Chief visibly shaken. It not only put the heels in jeopardy of losing the match, but also teased potential dissension between them.

Rock assuming leadership of The Bloodline in Reigns’ absence and changing how things are done, or even potentially introducing new faces the likes of Jacob Fatu to the mix, is a great way to plant the seeds for The Tribal Chief’s return and battle with The Final Boss for supremacy in the family.

Reigns vs. Rock may not have happened here in 2024, but it is still a credible, box office main event that WWE absolutely must present at some point in the future. As long as both sides are still open to it, of course.
